Bored sick of curls or waves?
Follow these steps to get superb straight hair! Steps...
1.Invest in a heat protective spray for your hair. These are sold almost everywhere and they smooth and soften while you flat iron while protecting your hair from damage. This is not mandatory but it makes your hair shiny and silky. If you have curly hair, make sure to wrap hair up in a tight bun at night to avoid more trouble in the morning.
2. Wash and condition your hair. You want to work with clean hair. Be sure the hair is dry!
3.Using a microfiber towel, or your regular towel, try to get as much moisture out of your hair as possible.
4.Spray on an instant spray leave-in conditioner.
5.Use a wide tooth comb to part and comb your hair before and during blow-drying your hair, and after. This will help your part to fall and stay naturally have the straightening process.
6. Dry your hair using a hair dryer. Use one of the blow-dryer extensions so you can put the blow-dryer up closer to the hair and round bristled brush.
7.Brush hair to eliminate as many knots as possible.
8.Put the top half of your hair up into a bun.
9.Divide the bottom half of your hair into small, thin sections. For best results use sections that are 1-2 inches wide and only about 1/2 inch thick.
10.Spray the heat tamer spray over the section of hair and run a comb through it to remove all knots. Hair without tangles will straighten better. The heat protective spray and the leave-in conditioner will help with tangles.
11.Hold a section of hair taut with one hand and use the other to clamp the flat iron as close to your roots as possible. Hold the hair firmly in the flat iron.
12.Pull the flat iron over the small section of hair in one fluid movement. If it isn't completely straight, that's OK, pull it through again.
13.Don't move jerkily while pulling the flat iron through your hair. It will leave horizontal lines indented in your hair and you will need to go over the hair several more times to remove them. The repeated passes to remove these lines can cause damage to your hair.
14.Don't be alarmed if you see steam rising from the iron. The plates are very hot and there may be some moisture left from the wash in addition to the sprays. This isn't damaging to your hair. As long as you don't hear a sizzling sound, it is not damaging.
15.Continue to move around your head straightening small sections all the way around as you go. Then take down the rest of your hair, tie the bottom half, and repeat the steps.
16.Examine your work in a mirror to make sure you didn't miss any sections. Don't forget to check the back. Now is the time to go over any missed spots or any place that is particularly gross.
17. Play with your hair to style it. You may need to flat iron pulling the section in another direction to get it out of your face or to help it style a certain way.
18.Continue to style your hair but avoid spraying water or adding mousse. The water content will cause your hair to curl back up or frizz immediately.
19.Consider using a curling iron for adding subtle curls or doing sassy flips or simply just wear it straight. Use a hair spray for humidity if you live in a humid area. Your hair will be prone to frizz with the moisture in the air.
20.Add a small amount of silicone based hair shine solution. Add only a few drops and rub between your hands and then smooth over hair. Adding too much is very easy and your hair will look nasty.
21.Keep an umbrella handy. Rain will undo all your hard work and leave you with a frizzy mess. Also carry a headband with you in the summer to keep the perspiration from your bangs. If you are jogging or walking, consider putting your hair up in a ponytail.
22.Wash your hair and it will return to normal. Repeat process.
